Privacy Policy

Using the native app without an account

Guest libraries are saved on your device and sync through your private Apple iCloud database when iCloud is available. Guest ratings, notes and viewing history are not uploaded to MyWatchLog or Firebase. Title search and artwork still use our metadata services. Delete entries in the app to remove them from the guest library and sync those deletions through iCloud. Your device and iCloud settings control Apple’s storage and backup services.

Information We Collect

• Basic account information provided by your authentication provider (Google or Apple), such as your name and email address.
• A unique user identifier (UID) generated by Firebase Authentication.
• Watch history, ratings, reviews, and any content you voluntarily save within the app.
• Your optional profile photo and changes you make to your display name.
• Technical information used by our hosting and sign-in providers, such as IP addresses, device and app information, authentication activity, and SDK diagnostics. Google Sign-In may also process account information (including contact details), device identifiers, approximate location, usage information and other sign-in data for authentication and SDK analytics under Google’s privacy policy. We do not request device location permission.

How Your Data Is Used

• To securely authenticate and identify your account.
• To store and display your saved movies and activity.
• To display your watched, watchlist and favorite totals.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the platform.

Authentication Providers

MyWatchLog uses Firebase Authentication with Google and Apple sign-in. When signing in with Apple, your name is only provided on the first authorization, and your email may be anonymized using Apple’s private relay service.

Data Storage & Security

Your account, library and uploaded profile photo are stored using Firebase. Your library is private to your account; authorized service providers process information to operate, secure and support the app. MyWatchLog does not sell your personal data or use it for advertising tracking. The native app contains no advertising or paid features.

• TMDB for movie and show metadata, artwork, and cast information

• Apple iCloud for private guest-library sync in the native app

Title searches are sent through our server to TMDB. Artwork loads from TMDB’s image service, which receives the network information needed to deliver it. Your private notes and viewing history are not sent to TMDB. Our providers may process data outside your country under their own privacy and security terms.

Account Deletion

You may permanently delete your account at any time from the Account Settings page. Deleting your account removes your authentication record, associated watch history and uploaded profile photo from our active services. We keep account data while your account is active. Limited backup, security, and service-provider records may remain until their retention periods expire or where needed to meet legal obligations. Contact us for access, correction, or deletion requests.

Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect improvements or changes to the service. The “Last updated” date above indicates the most recent revision.
